Julia Mattis is best known for exploration of women’s role in society and the interaction between people and nature through photography. The artists aims to highlight relevant social issues in order to inspire thought and humanity. In order to do so the artist creates an ephemeral style of art via digital photography, 4x5 large format and 35 mm film. She currently studies at The Ohio State University and is on track to graduate in 2019 with a B.F.A. in Fine Arts Photography. The Ohio State University provides Julia with many unique opportunities to learn and grow as an artist. She has had the opportunity to show her work in Urban Arts Space’s Annual Fergus Scholarship Exhibition (2018), Hopkin Hall's Undergraduate Art Scholarships Exhibition (2018) and in Gallery 934 (Dec. 2016).
